What is the Plot for The Return Movie 2017?
In "The Return," a heartfelt drama with elements of romance, we follow the journey of a young Albanian immigrant named Arben and his French fiancée, Elise. After a prolonged absence from his homeland, Arben decides it is finally time to return to his family and introduce Elise to his loved ones. Little do they know that their unexpected arrival will find a web of emotions and ignite a deep exploration of love, tradition, and the consequences of broken promises.
As Arben and Elise step into the beautiful Albanian village, they are greeted by the stunning beauty of the countryside and the warm hospitality of its residents. Arben's excitement to reunite with his family is palpable, but deep down, he knows that his father, Luan, holds traditional values close to his heart.
Luan, a wise and respected figure in the village, has long kept a secret that haunts him—his unfulfilled promise to a girl from their village. She was his first love, and he vowed to marry her one day. However, circumstances led him down a different path, and he ended up marrying Arben's mother instead. The weight of this unkept promise has cast a shadow over Luan's life, leaving him burdened with regret and a sense of duty to honor his original commitment.
When Arben's return is met with the news of his engagement to Elise, Luan's heart sinks. He fears history is repeating itself, and his son will abandon his roots and leave behind the village and its traditions. Determined not to let his son's actions mirror his own, Luan faces Arben, challenging him to face the consequences of his choices.
Bound by love and respect for his father, Arben finds himself torn between his past and his future. He must navigate the delicate balance between his desire to honor his family's traditions and his longing to build a new path with Elise. Their relationship is put to the test as they struggle with cultural differences, social expectations, and the weight of generational promises.
As the story finds, Arben discovers a hidden diary belonging to his father, chronicling his past and the girl he had promised to marry. Through the diary's touching entries, Arben gains a deeper understanding of his father's challenges and the sacrifices he made for their family. This newly discovered insight fuels Arben's resolve to find a way to reconcile the past with the present, and to heal the wounds caused by broken promises.
